For weeks now, we have heard Trump’s supporters cry, “Stop the Steal. Our election was stolen!”
Strong words! Did they have evidence? Did they present their evidence in court? What happened? Did the courts declare any votes to be illegal? Were any votes tampered with? Were any votes miscounted? The answer is no. No evidence was found to be valid in any court, and all allegations were proven to be false. Our election was not “stolen.”
However, something else was stolen! Something very valuable! THE TRUTH!
Millions of our citizens were lied to, over and over and over. In fact, Trump began his lies months ago. “The only way I can lose this election is if the election is rigged!” he declared to his roaring crowds last summer.
Last Wednesday, Trump and his cohorts doubled down on their lies. “Your country was stolen!” they shouted to thousands. “Now, stand up and fight!”
And so they did. Storming the United States Capitol! Intimidating our vice president, congressmen, and senators! Ransacking offices! Defiling the seat of our democracy!
After hours of chaos, order was restored, and our elected representatives carried out their Constitutional duty to ratify the Electoral College votes and declare Joseph Biden and Kamala Harris as our duly elected President and Vice President.
So what now? Will propaganda and conspiracy theories continue to stir up the passions of many of our citizens? Perhaps. TRUTH is still being stolen! However, the time for deception and lies is over! All who love democracy must make our voices heard.
It’s time to “Stop the Steal!”
Well said, Maddie!
Thank you, Anna.
Love you,
Maddie
Thank you for this, Aunt Madelyn. I’m so hoping that sanity and reason will win out and the country can regain a state of normalcy. For those who will not change their viewpoint, I hope that they will see that the majority of the country is not in agreement. That being said, I love you and Uncle Robin!
Hi, Pat,
Viewpoints about the legitimacy of this election should be based on proven facts, not vicious lies spread on social media. Like you, I hope that more and more Trump supporters will finally come to realize they have been victimized by their President. Biden is not their enemy. Democrats are not socialists or communists. We Americans share many values, and we must work together now to overcome the major problems confronting our nation.
Love you, too, Pat. I hope you and Shannon and all your family stay safe and well.
Maddie
Perfectly stated, dear Maddie! As long as we keep truth with us, the journey will take us to hope and light.
Yes, let’s keep focused on the facts and the truth. It’s hard to fend off all the noise, but if the majority of Americans will do that, we should be able to get to a much better place. : )
Amen, Sister
We all need to keep speaking the truth, Martha. Hopefully, the facts of the situation will penetrate the emotion.
Love you,
Maddie
Thanks Mom!
For several days, I’d been mulling over what to post about Wednesday’s horrifying insurrection. Then it dawned on me. “Stop the Steal” were the exact words I needed to say to Trump and his minions! They had stolen TRUTH for weeks in order to rile up their base to actually overthrow the election by force! It’s still unbelievable to me!
Love you,
Mom
AMEN! I’m amazed that so many Americans stood by him for so long.
Right! What’s more amazing is that so many are still defending him!
Thanks, Yvonne. I enjoyed reading your recent update in the card you sent. : )
Love you, dear friend.
Maddie
I think Rand Paul put it best on ABCs “The Wire” show Sunday. The narrative that leftist mainstream media presents is that there was absolutely nothing about the election to question. Biden won fair and square. If you say otherwise, you need to be silenced and accused of impeding democracy.
The problem with this idea is that there are plenty of questionable scenarios that occurred during the election process that need to be looked at and resolved for future elections. A primary concern is that in several of the key swing states, they unconstitutionally changed election processes without state legislative approval just prior to the election. Rand Paul even pointed out an oddity where in Wisconsin tens of thousands of absentee ballots had only a name and no address. An exception after the fact was made to count these when traditionally they would have been thrown out.
To say that evidence was lacking and ruled against in a court of law is a completely false statement. The fact of the matter is that courts refused to review the cases (and thus any evidence) based on **standing**. That is not a ruling on the actual evidence itself…the evidence was never reviewed and not the reason cases were dismissed.
It’s remarkable how the left mainstream media pushes so hard to dismiss the idea of election fraud when they swore up and down for the last four years that Trump won illegitimately. They even supported an outright farce about Russian collusion by Trump’s campaign. The half of America that watches CNN totally fell for that hook, line, and sinker. Declassified documents have now shown through interview statements by Christopher Steele stating that he participated in the ruse to draw attention away from Hillary Clinton’s email scandal.
Moreover, months before the 2020 election, democrats were scared to death the election was being rigged in Trump’s favor. Now the narrative we are to believe by CNN and others is that the election was the most fair and free election in our history?
That said, we have a new President now and we need to learn from all the underhanded shenanigans the left pulled off to defeat Donald Trump so that it doesn’t happen in future elections to either party. So let’s all join forces and continue to try and create a more perfect union.
Gary, many, many allegations of “questionable votes” in the election were examined by the courts. Trump’s lawyers brought over 60 cases to court, and none, not a single one, of the courts found that any of the evidence showed “widespread fraud.” Do you honestly believe that 60 courts would have ruled out any credible evidence for fraud based on “standing”? What Trump and his followers tried to do—and quite successfully, I might add—is convince all Republicans that the Democrats were attempting to “steal the election.” He started that mantra way back before the election. He did that by insisting that all mail-in voting was open to fraud, which was ridiculous.
You’re right that most Democrats were shocked and saddened when Trump won the presidency in 2016. However, Hillary Clinton conceded to his victory on the very night of the election because the votes were in. The voters had spoken. Did she challenge any of the votes in court? No. Did she rant and rave and insist that Trump was elected illegitimately? No And Trump had won by a much narrower margin in the swing states in 2016 than Biden received in 2020. Finally, did Hillary seek to overturn the election by encouraging a mob of followers to storm the Capitol and threaten the Vice President and Congress to make them throw out the electoral votes? Absolutely not! There was a peaceful transition of power from Obama to Trump.
Many Democrats did think that Trump may have colluded with the Russians because our intelligence reported that Russian operatives had been posting messages on social media against Clinton and in favor of Trump. However, the formal investigation into whether or not Trump’s campaign officials had actually colluded with the Russians concluded they did nothing illegal to seek out that information. That was good, although the investigation did say that Trump’s campaign “welcomed” the information they were getting from the Russians about Hillary’s emails, etc.
I do agree with you, Gary, that our future elections must continue to be very strictly monitored. With Trump declaring over and over at every rally and on MAGA media that the election would definitely be “rigged,” election officials all over this country worked especially hard to make sure people could trust the results. Now, in spite of the former President and his followers still insisting that thousands of votes were invalid, Republican and Democratic election officials all over this country have vouched for their results, and our election has been certified by the United States Congress.
I do appreciate your reply to my blog post, Gary. I hope we can all move on now beyond the Trump years and work together to do what’s best for every American in this country.
Love you,
Madelyn
Sorry for the length of this post… just trying to address your rebuttal in full.
Dismissing a case on standing has more to do with who has a legal interest in the case than the actual evidence being presented. That said, I think Trump’s lawyers did the best they could to get cases heard and most were just simply dismissed. Ultimately, It’s neither here nor there. My argument is that many (if not most) of the allegations were never brought to trial and heard by a jury.
I have to question if you are being open minded about mail-in voting. New York had terrible issues with mail-in voting in the primaries. A fraudster admitted to the media that he had a team working to submit hundreds, if not more, of fraudulent ballots. There must be reason Amazon run by outspoken leftist Jeff Bezos doesn’t want the union vote to be open for mail-in voting. Here’s a link about that from a leftist media outlet CNN.
https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/22/tech/amazon-nlrb-union-election/index.html
As to Hillary, she has never admitted that Trump won fairly. Here are two quotes from non-conservative news outlets.
From September of 2019, “Hillary Clinton dismissed President Trump as an “illegitimate president” and suggested that “he knows” that he stole the 2016 presidential election in a CBS News interview to be aired Sunday.”
From
From October of 2020, “There was a widespread understanding that this election [in 2016] was not on the level,” Clinton said during an interview for the latest episode of The Atlantic’s politics podcast, The Ticket. “We still don’t know what really happened.”
From
And then there’s the biggest scandal in American politics to date…. Hillary and cohorts manufactured a Russian collusion hoax in an effort to hurt the Trump campaign and detract from Hillary’s email server scandal. I hope one day the left media will actually be truthful in their reporting of it. I won’t hold my breath.
For four long years, from the minute Trump was sworn in, we began to hear calls for Impeachment. It never ceased. It was simply exhausting. The media and many of their viewership became obsessed with him and to the point of being outright ugly to anybody supporting his administration. Essentially, people let their emotions rule over common civil decency. Cancel culture set in and began the precedent of insisting that anybody in favor of a conservative platform is in support of everything Trump says and does. This would be a good time to use the word ‘ridiculous.’ I’m the first to admit I didn’t agree with many things he said. However, in my opinion, his policies were grounded and in the best interest of America.
As for mobs storming the capital, Trump never told those people to storm the capital. You are gas lighting by repeating the CNN narrative. He simply told people to march to the capital **peacefully** and let their voiced be heard. The fringe lunatics that actually stormed the capital had apparently been planning that days before Trump spoke. Nobody, no conservatives, condone their behavior by the way. However, if you intend to hold Trump accountable for inciting them, then you also need to hold the same standard to democrat politicians that supported city blocks to be burned down, assaults and deaths of police officers, and entire city blocks held hostage during the riots over the summer.
Now we have Job Biden in office, a lifelong corrupt politician. I’ll be curious to see what people think of him in 4 years. He’s already terminated the Key pipeline and southern border fence construction costing the loss of thousands of American jobs. He’s also upset Canada in the process.
Not only that, but his policies on energy overall do not favor Americans with jobs in fossil fuels. When your taxes go up and you are paying $3 and $4 a gallon for gas, you can thank President Biden. The Russians and China love this because they hate that we established energy independence under Trump.
Our immigration issues will revert back to having thousands of people entering illegally without penalty. There are already caravans forming and on their way to the border.
Among his many other terrible ideas, is of course, rejoining things like the Paris Agreement with the hopes that maybe China (the world’s worst emissions polluter) will sign on in 50 years. All the while, American manufacturing is strapped with new regulations that make prospering very difficult and make competing with countries like China nearly impossible. It’s sickening. Need I mention the US has already set the bar worldwide in lowering carbon emissions without being in any such agreement?
I’ll stop there because I could go on for days about all the executive orders he has signed thus far. It will be interesting to see how American interests are beleaguered under Obama 2.0.
As we have said in the past, we’ll probably just have to agree to disagree. Republicans and Democrats have a different world view these days. It will be a while before we can meet back in the middle on political views I think.
Love you,
Gary
Yes, Gary, as long as we do not agree on the “facts,” I’m afraid we will not be able to have a good discussion. I do wish we all had a source of information that was not colored by bias, either left or right, one that would present only the facts without commentators giving their opinions. You may be too young to remember that old show “Dragnet.” When Joe Friday interrogated possible witnesses to a crime, he always demanded, “Just the facts, ma’am. Just the facts.” : ) Sadly, neither of us has all the facts. One thing I do know, though. We both love this country. : ) And we both want all of our citizens to have healthful, prosperous lives without resorting to violence.
Take care now. Give my love to Angie. Enjoy your birthday this weekend. : )
Love you,
Maddie
I 100% agree with your final remarks. I’m certainly not for violence of any kind or out to hurt anybody myself, no matter their opinion on politics. I hope my concerns with Biden will fade over the next few years and our country will remain a leader and example for the world to follow. By the way, i noticed some links to articles were removed from my post where you see “From” and nothing following so I apologize for their absence.
Thanks for the warm birthday wishes. We plan to have a low-key celebration at home. I hope all is well there with your family as well. Tell them all hello for me. Looks like Sharon is making great progress on their home!
Love always,
Gary
Thanks, Gary. I do hope that you and many others, too, will have your concerns with Biden fade in the next few years. : )
Happy Birthday on Friday!
Madelyn
